To God did pray at large, Desiring that He would not lay
This sin unto their charge; Then yielding up his soul to God,
Who had it dearly bought, He lost his life, whose body then

Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinner reconcil'd.
Hark ! the herald angels sing, Glory to the new-born King.
Joyfall all ye nations rise, Join the triumph of the skies, With the angelic host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Christ by highest Heaven ador'd, Christ the everlasting Lord ! Late in time behold Him come, Offspring of a virgin's womb.
