CHARLES BRUCE TELLS HIS ADVENTURES.
When I was about twelve years old, an Indian by the name of Splitlog, came to my father's house in Boston. He was generally esteemed a good Indian, and he loved my father, because he once saved his life, when he was attacked by some sailors in the streets of Boston.
He asked my father to let me go home with him. He told me of excellent sport they had in shooting squirrels and deer where he lived ; so I begged my father to let me go, and he at length consented. |
