The boys noticed with surprise that darkness came down all at once without any twilight. This fact made me suspect we were not far from the equator, where day and night succeed each other very suddenly. Though the day had been hot, the night was quite cold ; but we were all so tired that in spite of this we soon fell asleep, and found our first night in the desert island very tolerably comfortable. |
